The Camden Partnership is honored to join with the Camden - Kings Bay Navy League Council in bringing the Coast Guard's top leader and executive to Camden County for "A Community That Cares" luncheon on Friday, March 16, 2012, at 12 o'clock noon at the Kings Bay Conference Center.
We want to celebrate the United States Coast Guard and the dedicated men and women of our nation's smallest sea service who call Camden County home. As you may remember, Camden County came very close to losing the Coast Guard's Maritime Safety & Security Team (MSST 91108) based in St. Marys.
Last year, with fierce advocacy and unwavering support from the people of Camden County, The Camden Partnership and the Navy League were able to devote time and resources to educate members of Congress on both sides of the aisle on the importance of restoring the Coast Guard budget. Part of that restoration was funding for four MSST's slated for decommissioning, including our own. This is what we do, and this is what PARTNERSHIPS can accomplish!
Eighty-five members of our MSST continue to call Camden County home, contributing their time and talents to our community in numerous ways, due in large part to our collective efforts advocating on their behalf. They, along with the Maritime Force Protection Unit Kings Bay, complete our Coast Guard family in Camden County.
The Camden Partnership and the Navy League need your support to make this event a success.
One of the many things we are doing in preparation for ADM Papp's visit is asking the cities of Kingsland, St. Marys and Woodbine and Camden County to declare March 16, 2012, as Admiral Robert J. Papp Day.
